John Casablancas IS a scam. I got a call from them and asked my aunt about it. my aunt's daughter was a model for them and they made her pay $240 a week and you are not supposed to pay for a agent. and after she finished the classes they told her she wasn't pretty enough to get any jobs!

Rachel, on your question about the modeling agency who contacted you.....

1 - If they are a legitimate modeling agency, they would have a REAL email address with the company website...NOT Yahoo.com

2 - The text they wrote to you sounds like a "canned approach" sent to anyone they can find who has visited a modeling site.

If I were you, i would toss out that email and wait for a legitimate agency....MAKE SURE their email address is from their company, and not Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.

It is never necessary to take a modeling course to become a model. Reputable agencies will train you themselves for free. However, if you have extra money to spend and want to learn about makeup and walking, etc. then go ahead and sign up for modeling classes. Otherwise, makeup counters like Lancome, MAC and Esteť Lauder will often give free makeup lessons.

Reputable agencies do will not insist that you use "their" photographer because "he is the best". A good agency will recommend a few photographers and let you meet with them to look at their portfolios. Pick a photographer that has a style that you like. It is most important for you to like the photographs in your portfolio because you are the one that has to sell yourself.

HMM I HAVE A QUESTION WHENEVER U GET THE AUDITION AND U REALLY WANT TO GOLIKE..FOR AN EXAMPLE I GOT A CALL FOR MODELING BUT I HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO WALK AND DO ALL THAT STUFF DO I STILL GO OR DO I HAVE TO WAIT AND LEARN ALL THAT BECAUSE I HAVE NO MONEY TO PAY FOR LESSONS I MIGHT HAVE MONEY FOR WHAT I NEED I JUST WANT TO BE FAMOUS....!!!!!!!!(:

Well John casablancas is not a scam,...it's actually not really an agency...although they do send you auditions and they WORK...,(i graduated from there).IT gives you classes so that you can learn how to model walk and act too..it's just like a class...(an expensive one).I just stared in Pickman's incident and it was really fun..and JOHN CASABLANCAS SENT ME THERE!

I so believe what they are saying here. No one should have to pay to become a model. If you want a job they pay you to model not you pay them. I just think its a croc to sit and pay some one for a job. Then why isnt McDonalds or Burger King asking people to pay them to work for them point because they are their for a job.

I got the same message from stefan petrov. When I googled the name it came up as a foreign male convicted for a crime. He's trying to interview me over skype. I never went through with it because nowadays people are able to hack into your webcam & turn it on without you knowing. I'm not taking that chance.

Hey I was just wondering if this was a scam. I got an e-mail from a John Murphey who calls himself a casting Director and Professional Photography. The modeling agency Mcphotoson he supposedly founded I cannot find. And where the shoot is supposed to be (in Missori) There is no news or anything about it. He also has a number but when I look it up on Google it says it's a landline in New York. I emailed him and he sent me a reply quickly about the photo shoot and where it was. Then when I noticed I could not make it because of a prior commitment I replied back thanking him for contacting me but I was unable to go. It was a paying job with all expenses paid, and I don't know if it was a scam or not. The red flags to me is that I cannot find the professional photography, the email is [email protected] Anybody who has any ideas on this let me know. I submitted myself to the audition via this website, and it is something about vintage fashion shooting. What else should I look out for in a scam?

This sounds a little scammy to me just because of the way he unprofessionally types.
